❓ FAQ

It fits standard marine fuel water separator heads with 3/8" NPT or 1/4" NPT ports - the pattern used across Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda outboards. The listing is the element only: it reuses the clear bowl and mounting head already on your boat. Compare the number on your old element or head with the cross reference - Mercury 35-60494-1 or 35-809097, Sierra 18-7932-1 or 18-7928-1, Racor S3213, S3214 or B32013. If the old part carries one of those numbers, this element is a direct replacement. If your bowl is cracked or you have no head fitted, order the assembly version instead.

Replace it every 100 engine hours or once per season, whichever comes first. Change sooner if you see a water layer in the clear bowl after draining, or if the engine hesitates at high RPM, idles rough or struggles to reach full throttle. Ethanol blends absorb water faster, so boats running E10 on a regular basis should inspect the bowl more often.

10 micron is the pore rating of the filter media: it captures particles of about 10 micrometres, which is the range that damages fuel injectors and scores the high-pressure pump. Fuel-injected four-strokes and direct-injection two-strokes need this finer rating. A 25 or 30-micron element will pass more of that grit, so it is not a like-for-like swap even when the thread fits.

Close the fuel shut-off, drain the bowl through the drain screw, then unscrew the old element by hand. Wipe the head face clean, lubricate the new gasket with clean fuel or engine oil, and thread the element on by hand until the gasket touches, then another three quarters of a turn - do not use a wrench. Open the fuel valve and squeeze the primer bulb until firm, run the engine and check the sealing face for weeping.

Yes. Every element is checked for gasket seat and thread condition before packing, and a sealing fault is covered by replacement. Send the batch code printed on the can together with a photo of the leak point, and the element is replaced. Damage from a distorted or corroded head, from overtightening with a wrench, or from a missing gasket is not covered - the head sealing face should be flat and clean before fitting.

Description

Product Overview

The S3213 replacement element is a 10-micron spin-on fuel water separator cartridge for standard marine filter heads. It is the part that wears out, sold without the housing or the clear bowl — you reuse the bowl and head already bolted to your transom, so every service costs an element instead of an assembly.

Key Features

10-micron media — traps fine particles and emulsified water before they reach the injectors and high-pressure pump of an EFI or DFI outboard
Element only, not an assembly — reuses your existing S3213 / S3214 head and clear bowl; a service costs roughly a third of a complete assembly
Spin-on service — threads on by hand, no tools and no bleeding rig; a change on the dock takes about five minutes
Up to 90 GPH flow — sized for single outboards up to 300 HP without starving the engine at wide-open throttle
Corrosion-resistant steel can — coated body for salt-air engine wells and wet bilges
Fits 3/8" and 1/4" NPT heads — the common marine separator head threads used by Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda outboards
