❓ FAQ

Yes. The kit covers Yamaha outboards from 1988 to 1998 in the 4-200 hp range, which includes a 1995 90 hp model. Mercury and Mariner are covered from 1990 onward, and Johnson, Evinrude and OMC across 4-200 hp. Engines of roughly 60 hp and above that have no port for an external tank line cannot use it.

Most outboards between 4 and 200 hp use 5/16 in (8 mm) line, which is what this kit supplies. Engines above 200 hp, or V6 and V8 blocks with higher fuel demand, may use 3/8 in. Measure the inside diameter of the line currently on the engine, or check the owner manual, before ordering.

Both are included. The kit ships with one 35-816296-4 inline fuel filter, its short section of hose and clamps, a primer bulb with a built-in check valve, a female quick connector for the tank end and one for the engine end. A male tank outlet fitting is not part of the kit and is needed only on tanks that use a male outlet.

A bulb that will not firm up is drawing air somewhere in the fuel path. Check that both quick connectors are fully latched, that the filter clamps are tight, and that the pickup in the tank is not blocked. A stuck anti-siphon valve at the tank outlet produces the same symptom. Once the air path is sealed the bulb holds pressure within a few squeezes.

Yes. The inner liner is formulated for gasoline blended up to E10 and resists the swelling and delamination that ethanol causes in older rubber hose. Fuel with a higher ethanol content, and long-term storage with fuel left in the line, shorten the service life of any rubber fuel line.

Description

Product Overview

FJ-PIPE03 is a 5/16 in (8 mm) inner-diameter, 10 ft (3 m) outboard fuel line kit that replaces the complete fuel path from a portable tank to the engine on Mercury, Yamaha, Johnson and OMC outboards rated 4-200 hp. The kit contains a reinforced rubber hose, a primer bulb with built-in check valve, quick-connect female fittings for the tank and engine ends, and a 35-816296-4 inline fuel filter with hose and clamps.

Key Features

Reinforced rubber hose, 5/16 in ID x 10 ft — one continuous run with no spliced joints, so there is one fewer place for an air leak to form.
Ethanol-resistant inner liner — does not swell or delaminate in E10 blended gasoline, the usual reason older outboard hoses collapse.
UV, ozone and saltwater resistant cover — stays flexible under sun exposure and salt spray instead of hardening and cracking.
Primer bulb with built-in check valve — builds pressure after long storage and stops fuel draining back to the tank; flow direction arrows are moulded on the body.
35-816296-4 inline filter included — traps debris before it reaches the carburettor jets.
Tool-free quick connectors — female fittings on the tank and engine ends latch by hand, with no clamps needed at the connections.
