❓ FAQ
Two filters: the FF63009 10 micron element for the FH22168 head, and the FS1098 spin-on fuel/water separator for the FH21462 head. Both are the fuel filters for the Cummins B6.7, ISB6.7, QSB6.7, ISL8.9, ISL9 and L9.
The FF63009 replaces 5303743, 5289121, 5304214, FF63008 and BF63000. The FS1098 replaces 5319680 and 5308722. Read the numbers off both old filters before ordering, because the two are not interchangeable with each other.
Because they are two stages of one system. A clean final filter behind a separator that is full of water and past its interval does not give clean fuel, and the second stage then works against the contamination the first one let through.
Yes. On a common-rail engine the high-pressure pump is lubricated by the fuel itself, so both must be primed with clean fuel. Fitting them dry means the pump runs without a diesel film at the first start, and that is where scoring begins.
Fit the separator first, then the final element, priming each as it goes on. After the engine is started, check both filter heads for seepage and drain the water trap before the vehicle goes back into service.

Description
Product Overview
This is the two-filter fuel service for the Cummins B6.7, ISB6.7, QSB6.7, ISL8.9, ISL9 and L9 diesels in one box: the FF63009 element that goes into the FH22168 filter head, and the FS1098 spin-on fuel/water separator that threads onto the FH21462 head. Both stages are replaced at the same service, which is the way these engines are meant to be maintained — a clean final filter behind a separator full of water is not a clean fuel system.
The two do different jobs and that is why the kit exists. The FF63009 is the 10 micron element: it removes the fine particulate that would otherwise reach the high-pressure pump and the injectors. The FS1098 sits upstream as a separator, dropping free water out of the diesel before it gets that far and holding the coarser contamination at the same time.
Between them they replace 5303743, 5289121, 5304214, FF63008, BF63000, 5319680 and 5308722. Both must be filled with clean fuel before they go on: on a common-rail engine the high-pressure pump is lubricated by the fuel itself, and a service that fits two dry filters leaves the pump without a diesel film at the first crank.
