❓ FAQ

Every 100 engine hours or once per season, whichever comes first. Shorten the interval if the clear bowl shows heavy water after each trip, or if the engine stumbles at high load.

It fits heads that accept a 3/8 in NPT port and an 11/16-16 UNC element thread — the pattern shared by Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda outboard separators that take S3213 or 35-809097 elements. Compare both threads before ordering.

No. The box contains one 10 micron element and one clear nylon bowl. The head and bracket already bolted to your transom are reused, which is why this kit costs less than a complete separator assembly.

10 micron is the common rating for petrol outboards and is what Mercury 35-809097 and Racor S3213 elements use. Finer 2 micron elements belong on fuel-injection diesel systems and load up faster on petrol.

Yes, if the old bowl is still clear, uncracked and the drain screw seals. Replace the bowl when it has yellowed to the point that water is hard to see, or when the thread or drain screw is damaged.

Description

Product Overview

The S3213 marine fuel water separator kit pairs a 10 micron spin-on element with a reusable clear nylon bowl, so one box covers both halves of a routine outboard filter change: the element that wears out and the bowl that yellows or cracks over time. It fits filter heads with a 3/8 in NPT port and an 11/16-16 UNC element thread, and replaces Mercury 35-809097, Racor S3213 and Sierra 18-7919 style elements. The mounting head and bracket are not included.

Key Features

10 micron media — captures fine particles and emulsified water before they reach the injectors of an EFI or DFI outboard
Element and bowl in one box — renews a spent element and a yellowed or cracked bowl in a single order, instead of buying a complete assembly
Clear nylon bowl — water level is visible without tools; check it at the dock before every trip
Self-venting drain screw — releases collected water without opening the fuel line or removing the element
M80 x 2.5 bowl thread — the standard R25T bowl interface used on 245R series and S3213 separators, so old and new bowls stay interchangeable
Spin-on service — the element threads onto the existing head by hand; a change on the dock takes about five minutes
Up to 90 GPH — sized for single outboards up to 300 HP without starving the engine at wide-open throttle
Powder-coated steel can — coated body for salt-air engine wells and wet bilges
