FL2016 Oil Filter and EC781 Aluminum Cap Kit Ford 6.0L 6.4L
The oil filter service for the Ford 6.0L and 6.4L Powerstroke as a set: the FL2016 cartridge, an EC781 cap machined from 6061-T6 billet and anodised black, and two O-rings. Replacing the plastic cap with the element is what stops the seep that starts at a hardened cap ring.

❓ FAQ
The seal is what fails first, and it only seals if the groove holding it is still true. A plastic cap lives in hot oil for years, cracks at the hex and its groove goes untrue, so a new ring on a tired cap weeps again in weeks. This kit ships the cap and the element together for that reason, and the aluminium body keeps its shape service after service.
2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke F-250 to F-550 Super Duty, 2008-2010 6.4L F-250 to F-550 Super Duty, and the Excursion 6.0L 2003-2005. The E-Series vans, the F-650 / F-750 and the LCF take the same cap but are not listed on this kit, so check the number on your original cap.
One fits the groove in the cap, the other is a spare for the element stem. The ring hardens before anything else in the assembly and a hardened ring is the usual cause of a weep after a filter change, so a spare means the service does not stop.
This listing quotes 3,000 to 5,000 miles. The factory manual for the 6.0L gives 7,500 miles for normal duty and 5,000 for severe, and short-trip or heavy-tow use belongs in the severe column. Follow the manual for your duty cycle rather than a single number.
One EC781 aluminium cap, one FL2016 cartridge and two O-rings, covered by 90 days against manufacturing defects. Buyers in the EU and UK also have their statutory withdrawal and warranty rights, which this does not limit.

Description
Product Overview
This kit covers one oil filter service on the Ford 6.0L and 6.4L Powerstroke V8, and it covers the part most services skip: the cap. Inside the box are the FL2016 cartridge, an EC781 cap machined from 6061-T6 billet and anodised black, and two O-rings. Both engines run a cartridge in a housing on top of the engine, so the cap is not a lid on a throwaway part: it is the pressure boundary that holds the element against its seat and keeps oil inside the housing while the engine runs.
Changing the cap with the element is worth doing because the seal is what fails first. A plastic cap lives in heat and oil vapour for a decade, its hex rounds off and its groove goes untrue, and the first sign is a diesel smell and a damp patch on the housing a week after the filter was changed. A new ring only fixes that if the groove still holds it square, which is why the two ship together. On the aluminium side there is a second gain: the body does not take a permanent set and does not distort under torque, so the cap that goes back on comes off again with the same socket.
Fitment on this kit covers the F-250 to F-550 Super Duty from 2003 to 2007 with the 6.0L, the same trucks from 2008 to 2010 with the 6.4L, and the Excursion 6.0L from 2003 to 2005.
